CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zhuzhou Institute) is a wholly-owned subsidiary under CSR Corporation Limited. In August 2006, Zhuzhou Institute put 50-year successful experience serving in railway industry into practice in the field of manufacturing wind turbines and established a Wind Power business unit (called CSR Wind Power for short), which specializes in the design, manufacturing and sale of large-scale wind turbine and its related critical parts as well as the construction, operation and consultation services of wind farms.

Over six years, CSR Wind Power has formed particular core competitive advantage in wind turbines, converter, network and control system, etc. by relying on excellent technical R&D team and combining technical import and independent innovation. Aiming at special power grid condition, climate condition and wind resource conditions in China, CSR Wind Power has successfully developed multiple products such as 1.5MW series high-altitude wind turbines, 1.65MW whole series wind turbines, 2MW low speed series wind turbines and 2.5MW coastal/inland wind turbines; 5MW offshore wind turbines are also under development.

The wind turbines of CSR Wind Power have been installed and operated successively in various large wind farms with different environments and climates in China from the intertidal zone and saline-alkali soil of Liaoning to the low-temperature environment in Inner Mongolia, then to such high-altitude areas as Gansu, Yunnan and Guizhou, etc. Its excellent product performance and good after-sale service have been highly recognized by such power investors as China Huadian group, China Huaneng group, and China Datang group, etc. and have established a good reputation in wind power industry; in recent years, its ranking in the industry has risen continuously. The market share for the high-altitude wind turbine which is developed independently ranks the first in domestic market.
